LED Question

Hi guys,

I am hoping for a little advice. I want to change out my 2 x 250 watt metal halides for LED's. I am growing a variety of SPS, and would like to maintain strong growth. I have a 4- foot 120 gallon tank.

I am thinking AI Sol as a replacement. If I go this route, how many fixtures would I need? I have heard many contradictory opinions and would love to hear what the community has to say.

If not AI Sol, does anyone have suggestions about alternatives and how many I will need?

Thanks for your help!

Just received my Reefbreeders photon 48 last week and so far loving it. Its a china import but for 48" programable led hard to beat for$500. Everyone seems real happy with customer serice.

I have an AI sol on a 30 gal and I also have a 75 gal that is four ft. I was thinking of doing the same thing as I have halides now but am leaning towards the Chinese LED's. I forget the manufacturer but the Chinese fixture now has a fixture with multiple color LED's that are similar to the Radions. If you want to see it, Carlos has one running on his SPS tray. Don't know the price but it will be cheaper than the Radions. BTW, if you are going with the AI's I would start with two and see how it works. Good luck.

My recommendation would be to look at lots of led systems. I was a metal halide guy forever and it was a tough choice to change. I spent about a year looking, checking out many types, even buying more than my fair share only to sell and try something else. If you want to see what I ended up happy with, PM me and come on by. I am in east Mesa area off 60 freeway.

Hi everyone,

It looks like I have a lot to think about. Thanks for all of your input! SKA- I might just take you up on that when I'm back in town. Thanks so much!
