Yes -- Neptune Aquatics in San Jose. Call ahead to make sure they have it.

Awesome thanks D-Nak. I will go there tomorrow. I wanted to go there for while anyway

waiting for summer

waiting for summer

As of now, the heater only turns on at 6 a.m. and on till 8 a.m and all of the remaining time it is off. Will post the Neptune apex chart when I get some time.

So, it consumes less energy than the tanks that are inside my house (heating wise).

I have a plan to automate the door opening and closing with apex and other hardware from Firgelli Automation and I'm confident that I may be able to get away with minimal use of the chiller during the summer. we will see how it goes during this summer. If it works during summer without any problem then I'm set. This set up is a success as far as winter is concerned, but I have no idea how it's going to be during the summer.

I will let you all know though.

Achilles Tang

Achilles Tang

Adding this one tomorrow.

Already Tank Transfer done and quarantined for a while and he will be inside the tank tomorrow fist thing in the morning.

Caught him and he is in the acrylic box before one of the TTM.

maddhugan wow very nice setup. Your tank is looking very nice I can't wait to get to that point. Looks like you have put a lot of planning in this system. Great job.

Nice colors on that Achilles.

Neptune Apex Heater power consumption

Neptune Apex Heater power consumption

So for this outdoor sump set up, the heater turns on anytime in between 6 to 8 a.m. and turns off between 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and all of the remaining day the heater does not turn on. The other tank inside my house consumes more energy than this set up. just took a snap shot of the Apex. The temp varies two degrees (76 -78 F) between night and day, is that ok? my fish doesn't seem to mind at all. But if I want, I could reduce the temp variation from 77 to 78.

Please see attached photo of apex chart:

winter only

winter only

So this is data for winter and I have no idea how it is going to be this summer and I will post a similar chart of the summer when we get there.

Yesterday zero energy for heating and cooling

Yesterday zero energy for heating and cooling

So on somewhat sunny days it consumes no energy for heating or cooling which indicates that the system is a heat absorber which is little bit scary. Because it can become hard to keep in cool during the extreme hot days during summer. I will have to do few more things to make it a smart sump and then I think I can get away spending Zero energy for heating and cooling which is awesome, See the graph, it consumed zero energy for heating/cooling since noon yesterday. Well, I'm enjoying it for now. So the 1.1 amps you see is for the UV + return pump. No energy consumed by the heater which is awesome.

Called Neptune and Aquatic collection, both don't carry them. the guy at Aquatic Collection said the company went under because they could not harvest enough.
