Lemnalia reef - skimmer or no skimmer

Hi there,

I am re-building my tank and am planing to build a Lemnalia sp. reef. I have read on the net that such aquarium doesn't necessery need a skimmer. Aparently skimmer only removes the goodies.

It is a 180 litres tank.
