Leonardo's Formosa Forest

Now back to the topic, Leonardo, how long have you had the tank set up and are most of the corals grown from frags or did you buy most of them that size?

I agree, unnecesary truebackpercula, Mikekman was just stating his opinion. We all know that leonardo's tank is beyond amazing.

the convict tang just makes that whole tank imo. i mean everything looks amazing, but that tang is just so awesome.

Leonardo, impressive growth. looks like pappone is treating you well. i just got a new skimmer and will be adding it back to my "dosing".... coincidentally i just got a Paracentropyge multifasciatus and it has been named Leonardo

great photographs

I agree with all above, your tank is an awesome example of what can be accomplished in this hobby. Nice work. TOTM material for sure.

i love this tank!

do you have any pics of the reef tank when it was younger?

i'm curious how it looked before those stags grew out, and how long it took for those stags to grow out into their current awesomeness.

Dude, your tank is sweet. How old are the large ones? How big where they when you first got them?

A stunning work of art!
It's always a pleasure looking at images of your formosa forest.

How much & how often do you do a waterchange?

Woow, thanks you for all your reactions and compliments. I’ll try to aswer the questions.

mdt178; I have 2 rocks in there, about 25 pounds total.

LobsterOfJustice; Calcium and ALK addition is done with Tropic Marin Bio Calcium every day. Because I’m setting up a second tank, wich will be connected to this one, I will starting to use The “balling-method” (automated 2-part) within a few weeks. Otherwise it would become too expensive.

Flint&Eric; I’m honoured ;) Let’s see some pictures when you got them!

surfnvb7; I’ll search for some pictures :)

IPT, szeth13; They were about haft the size as they are now. I’ll show you some pictures.

Baros; Thanks. A waterchange is performed every 2 weeks. I change 15% at a time with Reefers Best Premium salt.

All the others, thanks again for all the great reactions and compliments.

Ok, i really need to see an updated sump pic. I can get past the clenliness of it. Gorgious tank. Ingenious way you did the lighting.

Thank you! I'll try to make one ASAP :)

Leonardo, awesome tank! It was hinted at that you are using pappone, are you? Are you also keeping elevated levels of Ca, Mg, and alkalinity then? The Balling method seems to be popping up more...

The large purple/blue coral is the formosa? That's a very nice stag. I find it very pleasing how the stags have formed the reef structure/aquascape of the tank, with the rock occupying minimal visual space. The stag branches are also making very natural and secure-feeling cover for the fish, I think.

I agree good candidate for featured TOTM. A step beyond just a collection of SPS.
