Leonardo's Formosa Forest

ClownReef, Redbora; thanks :)

Emster, a venturi skimmer processes much more water and air with the same pump+needlewheel. Because I skim wet, this is an advantage for me. Needlewheels are more appropriate for drier skimming IMO. I get a lot out of my skimmer, about 1 gallon of tea-coloured skimmate per week.

Dave Dunbar, I do have some coralline growth, but only when my water needs some polishing :) Normally, with good waterchanges, a good working skimmer and fresh GFO and GAC, I don't have a lot of coralline growth. It just survives and not grow. My guess is that it needs some nutriets to grow well.
I clean the front windows every few days, so coralline have no chance on there, and I scrape off the back every 2 weeks with razor blade. Regular cleaning will prevent the growth ;)
Thanks for your vote!

Kimoyo, thank you! The scientific name of the Cardinals is "Apogon Leptacanthus"

Leonardo,
I talked with the US distributor of fauna marin, and they said that they will special order some trace b elements for me.

How's the 2nd tank coming along?

Cool! I'm curious wahat you experiences are with the Trace-elements in combination with the 2-part. Keep me updated please :)

Second tank is doing better and better. The eggcrate-structure is ready to go in and I already collected many different SPS to propagate.
More info+updates on that later!

I customized a single bulb 250 Watt Aqua Medic Aquaspacelight pendant to a double 2x250 Watt, and mounted 4x24 Watt T5 on to that :)

500 Watt HQI (DE Phoenix 14.000K)
96 Watt Giesseman T5 (2xactinic/2xwhite)

Are you doing something different with your new tank with the eggcrate?

I'll let you know how the trace + 2 part goes. I need to have AO order the trace for me soon.

Thanks Chrisrush:)

The second tank that is connected with the Formosa-Forest is a BB setup with eggcrate shelves. The tank will be used for propagation only.

I understand now. I thought the 2nd tank was going to be separated.

I will be in Ireland next week, so I'll see about picking up some trace b elements if I can get a chance.

roberts722, I know, about 1" a month :)

stony_corals; Thank you! I currenty use TM Biocalcium and Biomagnesium but is is becoming too expensive.
I will use the "2-part salts" for the Balling-Method+a Grotech TECIII dosingpump.

The second tank is lit by a 6x39 Watt T5 ATI Sunpower pendant with Korallenzucht and ATI bulbs.

Hey Leonardo,

I forgot to ask you, whats that red fish on the right? Looks like there is a second one on the left also. Thanks!

yellowwatchmen, thank you!

stony_corals; I use KorallenZucht, D&D (Deltec) and ATI bulbs.

2 KorallenZucht Corallight
1 KorallenZucht Fiji Purple
1 D&D Pure Actinic
1 D&D Actinic
1 ATI Blue+

kimoyo; The pink fishes are Myripristis Jacobus. They became too large for the tank 3 months ago. Too bad I couldn't keep them. They went to a 1000+ G FO tank.

This is a better picture.

I'm really impressed with your fish selection especially for a smaller tank. Any fish you would like to add?
