Leonardo's Lagoon

Leonardo - loved your last tank, and this one looks like it is going to be killer. How many actual different pieces (species or color morphs) do you expect to keep in this tank?

PS - man, you should come and chill in the photography forums too.

Thanks! I will take a look in the photography forum, and post some pictures when I'm confident about them ;)
I think I will have not too many, large colonies in this tank (same as the Formosa Forest) to give it a calm appearance.
I aim for 5-7 large tables and other Acropora, Montipora and LPS to complete the aquascape.

cool - go for it, post - your confidence will grow with the replies you'll get. People just appreciate, or may offer suggestions to take you to the next level but your shots look good.

Looks really awesome Leonardo, great work!!!

Leo how did you get the parts to make your light rack?
You should be able to find the aluminum at your local HD or Lowes, and use rivets to attach them. Then as Leonardo did you can have it powdercoated locally, or you can use a DIY "truck-bed" liner.

Hmm I need to check it out then , I went to a surplus store today but did not find the neatness of leo's . I was pretty good with my sisters bedazzler as a child so i should have no problem with a rivet gun.

Leo do you normally buy frags or colonies?

In Europe the trade in fragments exists only between hobbyists. LFS only sell (small) colonies.
A reason for this is that we don't have businesses that propagate corals (because of the climate over here) So everything we can buy is imported from Mariculture in the Indo-Pacific, or Wildcap.

Unbelivable I'd like to see the result now ! :D :D
Bravo ! (I'm french ;) )

Isn't it too much flat to put corals on the rocks ?

roshan; Thank you very much! :) I don't have any info about the new generation KZ bulbs, and don't have info about them in comparison to the Aqua Science Bulbs.
Do you know if the New Gen KZ bulbs are 3 of 5 band T5 Bulbs?

I will also search for some more info, and try them when I need some new bulbs. Of course I will post my experiences in here. :)

I'm curious about your setup, would you like to send me a PM with the link?

Leonardo [/B]

Leonardo - Thanks for the reply. I know that the KZ are also 5 band T5. Currently using ATI bulbs but will give a couple of the KZ bulbs a try. I don't have a link to my tank - I will get some pics done and send you a link.

Many thanks once again Leo
Roshan

Simon44; Merci beaucoup! 35 cm isn't that shallow ;) Enough to have some nice Acropora Tables and Montipora combined with some rock.

marlon17; Thanks, I will post some more pictures this week!

roshan; The most important thing with T5 bulbs is the number of bands. 5-Band T5's give a better, more complete spectrum and better coral growth.
If the new KZ are also 5-Band I think they are comparable or even better T5 bulbs. I will give them a try next time!

Looking forward to you pictures.

Hi Leonardo,

have you got recent FTS shoot??
your tank really inspire.im planning to build 18"height tank, but i look at your systm,it change my mine, should go lower then 18":) :).

Johan Susanto; Thank you. I would go for 18" My tank is much harder to aquascape, and designed for tabling Acropora. If you like to have other SPS I suggest a somewhat higher tank.

Tangs also really don't like the shallow tank, they get very stressed in it. That's why I will sell 3 of my tangs to give the one remaining one (convict tang) some space.

The whole tank is quite 'recent' so I will make post my first FTS this week :)

Ed; I know, I know... I promised a FTS this week. So did you! :D
