I added a leopard wrasse to my tank on saturday and it has been burrowed in the sand ever since. I know that this is normal behavior from them, but how long should I wait before I get concerned? I check my tank at night time too around 10pm - 12am if it comes out then but I haven't been able to see it.
Whats the longest people have had their leopard wrasse missing since it came back?

I've found that if they pop up in a day or two they're doomed. Usually, if they stay hidden for 4-7 days, it's a good sign.

Wow I hope that's not the case I have a large male bipartitus that came out after one day and started eating mysis and pellets after four days. I am going on 6 months and it would kill me to lose him.

Thats good to hear. He has a very strict schedule and it worries me every time he's not up on time. I guess they just like to sleep in sometimes.:D

typical clean up crew. nassarius, cerith, nerite, hermit crabs, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, emerald crab. i'm gonna pick up a turbo snail and conch snail soon

For sure. A month sounds great assuming you have treated with Prazi. How are your new Choati doing?

Well, frustrating. They both look really good, holding to a regular pattern of sleeping and foraging, but the male is being very belligerent about eating! He is taking Reef Nutrition Arctic pods, I watched him scarf a few live black worms as they wriggled around, but then later he ignored them. The female is taking the live blackworms as well. They have ignored all frozen food. I am trying to find some adult brine that look decent. two places have not had them, I have two more places to try. I am ordering the Nutrmar Ova...I am just trying everything I can. I am sort of surprised that they are not taking the PE Mysis. lots of looking and ignoring it.

Try nutrama Ova. In my case, my leopards ate PE mysis from day one.

My leopard wrasse was hiding in the sand for a month. But most leopard wrasse will do this because the fish’s circadian rhythm. So you might think he in the sand all day but really he is not. They come out at night. So feed them at night, I did this for the first month. I had him for a year now and he eats pellets.

I don't think there's anything scientific about it, just my personal experiences. :) Maybe it has to do with shipping stress?

I see I see, hopefully mine will come out soon, I check everyday around 10pm but he's not out around then. I'll try to check around 1am - 2am to see if it comes out around then. I think it should be okay that i'm not feeding him at night time cuz I still see bunch of pods on the glass.

Mine was hidden for about a week and a half and love PE misys, my choati diet eat Amy of that for the first 2 months I had him just live misys from ebay
