yawn... ATI of course..

LED = greater potential for self-shadowing of SPS sticks = the suck :)

But don't forget the 7-12month recurring t5 bulb cost x 16.. If that doesn't bother you then ATI for sure..

Can you get the shimmer with using like one led t5 bulb in each fixture

For shimmer you need a single but powerfull in any direction light.I would recomend to use one or 2 hid xenon lamps(the type that are used for cars). If its cloose to the water it will make soo much shimmer from just 60 w or 30 if you use just one bulb ,that it will reflect on the walls in your room. The less kelvin on the hid =the more intense light and shimmer ,but it can also grow unwanted algae. The draw back of the HID is that youl have to change them once with the T5 tubes.Or you could use somme powerfull single leds too, to get the shimmer instead of my recomandation of HID xenon bulbs, but leds will create much less shimmer than the hid because they have a narrow angle of difusion .In your aquarium you would need like 4 super bright leds -Hid xenon only one or 2.

OK, I'll be the lone voice for the leds.

The Aquasanrise is a good fixture, but I'd opt for 2 Photon V2 (48") instead. BTW, I had the old Photon version with very, very little shimmer. The V2 version has the leds closer together and there is reasonable shimmer. Not like a single point or a Kessil, but more than enough for my eyes to enjoy. And no bulbs to replace. ATI, 16 bulbs at $20 each at least once a year... $320. Four years of t5 bulbs buys you the Photon V2 fixtures!
