I had this stand that invincible569 posted on his blog pointed out to me. Anyone have an idea how something like this might be built using cinder blocks?

I don't know if you've seen this yet? But reefkeeper2 has a similar set-up on cinder blocks.

Thanks for the heads up, its cleared out now. Hopefully next week I'll be setting up my tank :) Starting to get a bit frustrated with AO, its 11 weeks and counting now...

Let me know when you around and I'll come by and check it out.

Those cinder block stands are awesome looking.

You get your Vortechs goin yet? You got me wavering between the two MP40ws and the TS24.

Tested them out in my sump, but still waitin on the tank. We need to combine our setups - I have everything but the tank, and you've got the 60x36 tank w/o equipment :)

wow i remember reading this thread ages ago :) drooled at your plans... im glad to see its finnaly getting legs! cant wait to see what the final setup will look like... would love to see some more updates if ya get a chance! :)

jflip - I was thinking youd send me the tank...I guess we'll just have to build two of em' :)

aspinn - Ill have a major update when the tank arrives (it better be next week). Got my skimmer stand built tonight. Its a pvc base siliconed to an acrylic sheet for the skimmer to sit on. Ill get some pics tomorrow once the silicon has cured.

Man, I can almost taste that salty water. Its getting close, nows the fun part! no more demo, its all equipment! Unless we were going to do that collabo on the tanks, and you were sending the equipment my way lol

Got the drywall in and cornerbead glued down (thanks again to jglackin for lending his expertise). Its dried and the muddin' will soon follow.

The tank will ship out by Thursday and will arrive next Monday or Tuesday :)

In the meantime, I've been researching my lighting unit, the Sfiligoi Stealth 12x54w. I bought it rather blind going on the name, but Sfiligoi recently updated their website, and from the tech data it looks like it will be a very cool unit:

oh man drywall is fun isnt it?

coming along great. must be nice to be climbing out of the giant mess that a build like this creates around the house.

my entire kitchen, dining room, and garage are currently held hostage with crap :D

Man, a 12 bulb fixture! What happened to MH or bust there sir? Maybe I should have gone T5 too, since you, terry and dan are all T5 units!

Im gonna stick to the MH, a little late now lol. I'll be getting an MH/T5 fixture. I think that'll still work nice IMO.

Tbone - thanks, I'm hoping it works out as well as the ATI units have for you. seems like it utilizes the same concept to get max par?? has a temp sensor that regulates the speed of the fans (the same system I'm using as my chiller :) )

What do you think about a bulb combo? I get aquascience bulbs include with the unit, so I'm getting a mix of special, duo and blue. But I want to mix in one or two ATI blue plus, a UV daylight bulb (or two), and a fiji purple or two.

Jflip - I'm all about the T5s. I have a 400w MH on my current setup, and I might miss the shimmer a bit, but not really. MH are still present the lowest up front cost to light a big tank. What did you decide on again? Lumenarcs?

ryan - yes it is nice to start seeing a light at the end of the tunnel...hopefully within a month Ill have everything in the new tank.
