yikes, thats a pretty darn big error.

you know you should move forward with finishing your build in the mean time...... just go get like a small acrylic tank as a display placeholder so you can start messing with the rest of the system :D

I was going to get a Rubbermaid stock tank anyway for the tank transfer...hmmmm :)

You know, he's right. You could put much/all of your corals in your frag tank and the live rock in a stock tank and move forward. That would make finishing the wall and the bar considerably easier.

dude a big ugly rubbermaid container sitting in that sweet bar display spot would be totally hilarious :D

then when your folks come by you can do a big curtain reveal of the sweet rubbermaid tank

reminds me of when I was a kid. i caught on that my mom would always say good job regardless of the job I did. I used to do random artwork (decent for a kid), but I would purposfully make 'crappy' versions to show my mom :) of course shed say "good job wow etc etc" then id show her the real ones and shed feel pretty silly.

Lol Ryan, Without going back through 10 pages (im lazy :D) isn't there anywhere that sells aquariums the size you needs without having them custom built?

Nope - for 36" width, you gotta go custom.

Heh - I'm thinking about it, but I want to keep my tank up for at least a couple more weeks. My folks are visiting last week of April and have never seen it.

well then look at the bright side...
your folks will get to see your old tank and everything you're going through to get the new tank up and running. have you ever posted an fulltankshot of your current tank?

I thought i'd be done with my build months ago :D why do we do this again?

oh ya because reefs are freakin sweet!

ryan - not sure if I have in this thread. I don't think they come out that well because of the curved glass, but here are a couple:

thats pretty awesome man, youll be off to a great start on the new tank!

place looks sweet. what floor are you on? the view looked nice in the last shots you posted.

So dilemma now...I talked to A.G.E. and they can build for me in 5 weeks. The other manf. called me back, actually was crying, said that they would rebuild and could have the tank in 3 weeks and would ship it for free (saving $450).

Part of me says, I feel bad for the guy, and free shipping would make it right. part of me says I shouldn't have to threaten taking them to court for my deposit to have them make it right, and that my trust in their build quality is shaken by this mishap. Not sure what to do now :(

I would rather pay the $450 than maybe have thousands die if anything happened to the tank. If you dont trust the company anymore then i would go with another. But its your call.

The difference will likely be more like $1500-2000 as AGE tanks run quite a bit more. I am tempted as they did finally follow through with the pic of the tank they mistakenly built (if anyone is in the market for a tank this size, I'm guessing you could get a sweet deal ;) ), and it looks pretty nice.

If it was me, after seeing the photo, I would go with the original tank, but have it built to my specifications and take the free delivery. Is there a warranty to go with this tank, or one made by AGE?

I think it was honest mistakes. Its just a question of sometimes, even when mistakes aren't bad intentioned, they still happened. That said the quote on the A.G.E. is 3700 and this one will run me 1950 for what looks like a good tank. I will definitely go with A.G.E. on my next tank, but I'm a softy, and the tank does look solid. I'm going to ask that they not charge me until I've had a chance to inspect it on arrival, but I think I will take their offer of free shipping.
