When mine arrived, it was only covering the top of the rock, in the last 6 weeks, it has begun to over take the entire rock.

Not round, but perhaps a round rock would have made it grow as such

Newly added... Looks like maze, or maybe favia?

I got one about six months ago and it was doing fine for the first 3 months, then it just started to lose it's color. Now it's all brown with no green at all. What could cause it to lose color?

Possibly due to elevated nitrate for a period of time. Did you carry any test?

Looking back at my parameter statistics I did get a spike to 5.0ppm for Nitrate around the end of June beginning of July, but this was browning before those months. Everything else in the tank is doing fine and has color.

Some coral do change their color according to light spectrum. I had a favia which supposed to be red with orange mouth but morphed to purple and metallic green mouth. Some at the edges in a sloped with less light, they retained original color. But coral browning or green appearance is due to nutrient issue as I had the same problem of green/brown corals before.

Thanks for the info. If it's a nutrient issue it's only effecting this favia because everything else has good color.
