Let's See Some T5 Only Lite Tanks (remember Just T5 Lite Tanks) :-)

wood;)
my retros are in my canopy i made

i know you are referring to the tek lite hoods, i bet you could make a bracket out of wood, or hang them from the ceiling

I'm sure I can use almost anything to prop it up, I can;t believe you guys would shell out $60 for brackets. That can buy so much.........

Come on guys, more tank pics!

I know the bracket legs are a bit much, but I'm very happy with them. I had my lights propped up, it made it very difficult to move and I was always worried about them dropping into the tank. The brackets I can slide back and forth, worth the 60 bucks just for piece of mind.

I think it's ROBERRY!!!!! This industry needs some serious regulation!

On the other hand they do serve their purpose!

Finally got a few shots with the new camera. Still need to come up with a good angle for a full tank shot. All my corals started as small colonies and the SPS were all frags except for the catspaw. The tank still looks empty but I get the satisfaction of knowing I grew nearly everything in there from a very small frag or coloney

This arrived as a twig a few months ago

You can see some little thorny looking white corals on the rock to the right of the bubble. Dunno what they are

This is the smaller piece of a medium size colony that arrived broken

This is after I fragged it

This Acro was knocked over into the sand and was half dead when I finally noticed it a couple months ago

I gotta start fraging this before it takes over the whole tank

Pic of the Zoos with the flash on, makes the colors on the zoos look close to what they are in person

That would be BLUE. How long have you had the pink coral under those lights? I added a Pink catspaw to my tank (actually 2 halves of a broken colony) running Blue and aquablue lamps and they have shifted to a more purple color. I threw a sun lamp back in to see if perhaps the lighting was causing the color shift but can't say it's made a difference so far.

The Grim Reefer,
The stylophora hasn't been in there for long ~ 2 months or so. I originally ran 2 actinic 2 sun and 2 blue plus but after some research and testing the aquablue come out to be a lot brighter and whiter than the sun, at least to me.
JVHam,
I will go ahead and take some full tank shot and show you how everything looks, doesn't look as blue as it does in the grand scheme of things.
AJtheReefer,
Thanks, i'm using a Canon G6 nothing super fancy

grim, is that a cats paw in the first pic you posted?

whatever it is it rocks...

and yeah i think i have a home for some zoo trimmings here in Wi...;)

Is there anything in particular thats bad about the workhouse7 ballast that aqualux.com offers? that seems like its the best deal to me.

no. nothing bad about it. it will overdrive the bulbs a bit,

some said for a while that the instant start of the W5 and W7 will kill the bulb prematurely, but according to fulham, makers of the W ballasts, aquarists will not see the reduced lifespan of the lights, since the bulb will be changed previous to the bulb getting shock started out... after a while fluoro lights lose output %. and its at that point, we change them...

fulham said that if one were to constantly turn on and off the bulbs all day long for months at end, you may run into the problem prematurely..

so, no, nothing wrong with them...

i run a w5 for my 3x39 watt t5 ho setup. no problems yet...
for a few (15 or so) dollars more you can get the programmed start ballast form aqualux. i figured i would try the W ballast, and report issues if i had them at 18-24 months...

Wow, great photo's everyone! I read the articles but just can't seem to get the pics. Must be the cheapo digital and nothing to do with my skills. . .

On another note, I have the 6 bulb Tek light and currently running, actinic, aquablue, blue +, 6500 K, aquablue and blue +. The light seems way to white for me. Should I take out the 6500 and add another blue + or do I take out one of the aquablue.
I'm just getting into SPS and have about 5 total frags so I'm thinking the aquablue would be the one to keep. What do you guy's think?
Also, would replacing the one 6500 with a blue+ make much difference?
