MArino, I saw this thread along time ago and have not been able to find it. I love your stand. My hat is off to you!! Wold you ever consider making a stand and canopy for me? That stand is beautiful.

Chris: the total cost has been about $1500, I am still spending some money on things, but the main setup was about that. I don't think the carpet is necessary, but it did help quite a bit at the beginning. I had to get to the outlets behind the tank to change them from GFI's to regular outlets. The GRI's were popping. So having the carpet was great, we were able to slide the tank away from the wall to work on it.

friendtothefish- that is a great idea, I never thought about moving the tank. I am really gonna do that now. One question, do you have problems with spillage? If that carpet got wet frequently, then overtime I would think it could rot the wood.
