Let's see your Red Dragon? Does it need Radiums?

So I have a huge colony of Red Dragon buried in the back of my tank. When I was using Radiums it was beautiful deep red. I love my ATI Powermodule and so too do all my other corals, but for the life of me I can not get the Red Dragon to return to the deep red color it had.

Does anyone have an established colony of Red Dragon that is deep red and grown under T5s or LED?

Thanks!

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. It belongs to JettaReefer of Tx.

I feel your pain. I recently bought a mini colony that is supposed to be RD and so far it's Brown Dragon all the way. I can't get any red in it. I run T5's, 3 x B+ and 3 x C+. Also running Aquaforest system. It's very healthy but brown to tan at best.

My colony looks more like mach 5's grows super fast. Its under radions. Low in tank. In the picture has a lot of blue evening light. In normal light it is more light pinkish color with lighter tips. I actually like the slightly pink color over a darker red.

Mine is light red with purple tips. It is a rescue that is still recovering. Not sure what it will look like once it is back in good shape.

Mine is under LED t5 (joe's favorite pac sun!). It wasn't dark red, but it was dark pink. I unfortunately lost it to an additives dosing mishap... Grew really well, and color was nice. It was more toward the t5's

Here is my Red Dragon. I picked it up about a month ago and it has settled in AMAZING. Was under T5 and recently went Hydra 26 HD. I will say, I'm getting better PE and coloration so far. I'm also running full ZEOvit. Also, does anyone else have blue growth tips? I'm receiveing a light / pastel blue growth tips that are quite long. Though I know I get long colored growth tips from ZEOvit. Just never seen blue on a Red Dragon!

This was the first day I brought it home:

I have a couple of large frags/mini colonies in my tank under 400W Radiums that look similar to this.....more of a pink color.

This may not be the same exact coral but i have a pink dragon under Pheonix 14k and it was under Radiums for a little while as a tiny frag.
In both cases it was/is at least halfway up in the tank.

My RD when I first got it. Very red coloration.

I will take a picture of what it looks like now tonight when lights come on but it's now a light red. I have been acclimating it to stronger light little by little.

Mine was always pink even when I got it as a frag. I actually really like it's color it softens up the area of the tank it's in. It maybe my low nutrients and led... But like I said it was the same as when I got it pretty much

Here is a pic showing the coral in the 7 months I have had it. Growth has been awesome. Notice it has always been pink not red.

My buddy lost his Red Dragon due to tank issues, but when I saw it under his ATI T5/LED hybrid it had amazing deep red colour. He runs 4xATI Coral+, 2xBlue, 2xActinic and all 4 LED channels at 100%.

He does feed his tank like crazy...all his SPS colours were intense and not pale; which I something I never expected especially as he is running an ATI hybrid. Feeding the fish very well goes a long way in pulling deep colouration.

He feeds a home made concoction, very much like Roggers foods or the LRS stuff...we dont get those products in the UK, so he makes them himself.

That is an incredible seven month grow out! I see that was from 2/26. Any chance at getting a current pic?

Compliments, that is a beautiful piece. Job well done.

I have never seen a RED red dragon, it's always a pinkish coral even in higher nutrient tanks. I have seen some maricultures red cardus that are pretty red but they are much different corals. I think the pictures of red dragons that are a bold dark red are just how the picture was taken and edited.
