Yesterday i purchased 6 blue line/eye cardinals to throw into my display tank with my pair of gasters and their mertens.

3 hours later 2 Blue Lines/eyes left and a very bloated mertens.

My gaster fed the mertens 4 cardinals and spit this out this morning. Literally i watched her drag the injured fish into the mertens!

Most aggressive clowns ive ever had!

It is interesting because I have witnessed this identical behavior and yet I read article after article about how the "rumor" of clowns feeding their anemones cannot be proven.

Try this... get some feeder guppies and toss them in your tank. Let me know how long they last Years ago I had a pair of sebae clowns that would grab feeders and feed their anemone instantly. They wouldn't bother any saltwater fish, and I could add saltwater fish to the tank (a 125 long) and they would leave them alone. But if I tossed feeder guppies or black mollies in the tank, they were gone in seconds.

Bonsai she has killed MONO's, tangs, gobies, jawfish.

I thought the cardinals would be alright but DAMN.

I guess ill never say mertens arent fish eaters anymore!!! i was soo suprised.

You should see the damage babies inflict on each other... We are not talking about ripped fins, they chew faces off the weaker ones right after meta. Aggressive, yes.

my tricinctus did this in my solana. they hosted a rbta and i added a fire shrimp and it didnt make it 2" in the tank when theygrabbed its feet and tentacles and dragged it into the rbta. i dug it out and saved it. but they did it again and i wasnt fast enough!! they did it to a pep shrimp too. never seen it down with fish though. wow thats impressive.

Pretty cool, actually Stinks for the cardinals of course, but, in general, the behavior is facinating!!

In your first couple of pictures, your mertens has an odd, longish tentacle, any idea what that is... or means? I've seen a maxi mini do that, but none of the others do, and my haddoni never displayed that. But, it's clearly something different about that tentacle (and on my maxi mini) it was always the same tentacle like that. Yes, I did count rows LMAO

I like to call them feeder tentacles. They are usually elongated.
