Let's Talk About Water Movement in an SPS Tank.

charles mathews, and others with wave2k info:

I'm seriously considering this product. Can you elaborate? I'm curious about how the down surge effects the sand, dead spots, etc. Also, details about the mechanics. I'll contact the vendor too, but I'd like to know more about some of these issues (and others I may not have considered) before I talk w/them.

I've seen them, to me it did not look as if it would move enough water to be helpfull in an SPS tank.

I used an Ocean Currents Ocillating return on my first tank years ago. It was junk. after only a couple of months it stopped moving and needed constant cleaning and attention to work. I replaced it with a Sea Swirl and was much happier.

On my new tank (120 gal AGA) I am running an Ocean Runner 3500 (400 GPH after head reduction) returning through a 3/4" Sea Swirl placed near the middle of the back wall. I have 2 6100 Streams and 2 6000 Streams on a 7095 controller, along with a Wavebox. As of right now the tank is all frags, so the flow is pretty crazy. Everything is responding well, though. The Wavebox is incredible. It really does a great job of eliminating dead spots, and the motion of the water is unbelievable.

150 drain help
I am getting a 150 60x24x24 the plan is to use 2 Tunze streams but for the drain on the over flow would a 1.5 be ok? The over flow box is 10x5 in the center of the tank.
Thanks

the Hydor FLO Rotating Deflector is working perfect in my tank. my tank has lps and sps so i cant have the normal 1 way flow. all corals are open and thriving.

Hey guys, I have a 20g reef .. how would you set up the flow with the following.... A fluval 404, and 1 Seio 620 powerhead. Right now I have all my SPS frags on the top left hand side of the tank... any suggestions?

RTN = rapid tissue necrosis. It means the tissue dies off rather quickly as opposed to slowly receeding over a longer period of time.

I use an OM on my Return

I use an OM on my Return

pump. Using a Squirt two way and have my return water alternating side-to-side. Also have a closed loop OM SS with four feeds into the tanks. I have plenty of motion on my corals.
