Lettuce nudibranch eating macros?

My display tank is heavily planted with macroalgae but it's also starting to get hair and turf algae. I want to get on top of it before it gets out of control. I already tried an emerald crab, but he only clipped my macros and even ate one of my mushroom corals but wont touch the nuisance algae. I was looking at getting a lettuce nudibranch or a sea hare. But will they eat my macros as well?

The nudi will only eat algea to get the chloroplast cells to fill the body and then use them to produce the food themselves. They are NOT part of a true cleanup crew. A seahare with start with hair algae but could eat all of it, on the other hand they may only eat the HA then starve. I rent them from the LFS so if something doesn't go as plan he goes back. Depends on species and where they are from. Thought about an urchin for the turf algae?

I agree Elysia sp . ++ and tuxedo urchin ++ .
I 'd personally get an aplysia ( sea hare ) only if had a gigantic tank with hair algae for a lifetime!

I've had great results with algae control from adding a tang. I don't know if it would eat your macro algae too though. I've never tried to keep any algae in the dt.

Tangs do work very well in a reef tank. But in a planted tank there is every likelihood that the tang might eat the macro algae first. Mine go crazy when I add some real macro algae.

I've always wanted an urchin, but feared that they would mess with my corals

Tangs love macro. Urchin are great mine rarely bother anything. On occasion they will find a frag I didn't glue down because I was light acclimating it, but it just took it for a ride no damage done. Any fish that eats microalgae will love macroalgae.
