Levamisole In-Tank Treatment for AEFW

Get the prohibit - it will treat 2800 gallons for about $25 and is a purer form that appears to work more effectively.

Expect some form of an algea bloom. When dosing any agent that can kill one thing, it will kill many. This adds bio load and removes critters that aid in breaking down waste. I would assume every one will see some increase in algea growth, I now I did. It is to be expected. frequent GAC changes, regular WCs, and good skimmer maintenace become key to fending that off. It'll settle down if you stay after it.

What worries me more is the loss of SPS. As has already been asked, please summarize your dose, frequencey and state of the SPS when you started. As I mentioned above, I only saw SPS stress when I drastically OD'd the system. I am convinced that those SPS I lost after begining the treatment were gonners before I began.

We really need to appreciate how damaging the AEFWs can be. No treatment can be perfect and with out side effects. Hopefully, this experience will teach everyone afflicted that an ounce of prevetion, is worth a pound of cure. QT .... QT .... QT

I've not seen flatworms coming off of any acros in a week now (basting method) - and I've NOT treated yet.

This frustrates me because I really want to get a few into a pico I have and find out if I can breed them.

I wonder if they are at a really low level right now? Weird!

american livestock

If you search through this thread, I posted a $5 off coupon which would put your total at $20.75.

If they show it out of stock, call them. They may actually have it.

sweet, thanks! must have missed that somehow i read this entire thread. gonna have more questions so bare with me guys. gonna get this stuff ordered first. whats the dosing method for the prohibit i didnt see that here either, just for the vermisol. thanks for the fast responses

Dosing is still 5g of levimasole for 300 gallons.

Prohibit is 90% pure, so just use that in the calculations.

I'm coming up with 2.2

2 divided by .9 (90%) is 2.22

I'm not 100% that is right either, so don't quote me - it is too early.

sounds good to me i just skimmed back through and seen that we have pretty much the same system so ill start with the 2.2. thank you.

Good deal then.

I also linked a scale that I plan on using if you need one - it was around $20 as well. Seems to work well and is supposed to be accurate to .01 grams.

"Sometimes the cure is worst than the disease"
My tank doesn't have a lot of AEFW's but I wanted to erradicate them.
I diluted 5grms of Levamisole in 3 cups of water and then divide it for three doses of 1 cup for 100gls(water volume) for 8-10 hours every 6 hours. Then new ROX GAC and water change, fishes were ok before 4th dosage almost all my SPS collection gone.

Elblond,
Were you using the Prohibit or the 100% pure? I think the 5g/300g is dosage for the prohibit which is not 100% pure. Could it have been an overdose?
