Levamisole In-Tank Treatment for AEFW

Yeah camel shrimp work but you cant add them to your tank , you have to have a QT tank. Take the infested coral and place it in QT tank for 20 to 30min and thay will eat all the AEFW and Eggs but if you leave it in there longer thay will eat the sps.

have you try them?

Bayer insecticide - I use the 40oz Concentrate and have used 10ml in 1/2 cup of tank water to treat AEFW. They fall and die within 5 minutes.

In my experience, the frags don't lose color afterwards, but they do slime a bit. I've only tested a handful of frags, though.

I'm hoping my Prohibit comes in today - as it would be a good time to start treatment. :D

Bayer complete advanced insect killer . Theres a post here about it and how to use it as a dip only . It works great kill AEFW and Eggs and Red bugs to.

I've seen zero evidence that it kills eggs, batt600. It is not an ovicidal insecticide, which is why I say that. If you have some empty egg sacks that never hatched, and repeatedly do, then I'd love to see some pics of them.

If not, I would assume that the eggs remain viable.

Received my Prohibit and scale today. I've got water mixing up for the first water change. Hopefully I can start this weekend or sooner!

Plan:
Remove skimmer airline
Dose 2.5g of Prohibit
Monitor for five hours (lots of clenching involved!)
Start skimmer back up
Run activated carbon
Replace carbon after 24 hours
Do 20G water change
Repeat every 6 days

I may increase the dosage of Prohibit by .25g or .5g every treatment, depending on how the system handles it.

I used it and seen it with my own eyes , the eggs fall off and dissolve so yes it kills eggs . I started using it because of that. I have a friend that had them and used the bayer to and he said the same thing it kills the eggs ill have him post up to tell you.

What is your doseage for killing the eggs. At the previously recommended dosage that I have used, it didnt dissolve the eggs, although I am not sure if they were dead since they went into the woods with the rest of the coral. LOL

Will you do your water change after 24 hours or change it immediately after the 5 hour treatment?

Hmm - I dunno. What has everyone else been doing? I would the carbon would pull out the levamisole first, which you'd want to run for a while and then change it out again. But for the water change, I'm not sure which way would be best.

If I change at 5 hours, I'd only be diluting the levamisole a small bit. If I wait 24 (or possibly 12) hours, it would hopefully be mostly out and a water change would really knock it down quite a bit more.

I dose for 6 hrs. Then turn on fresh carbon and skimmer. And a few hrs later done a water change. No particular reason regarding timing for my water changes though. Never really gave it much thought. I would dose around 9am. My lights are programmed to come on at 1pm-2pm. I then basted everything in the final hour. Water change would be later the same afternoon.
