what's with my pumps going on the fritz lately? Came home to a cloudy tank and my Ehiem 1262 barely pumping. Cleaned it and got it going again, but this made me nervous. What would be a good back up or does anybody have a backup they can sell/spare. Pumps always have a way of completely going out in the middle of the night or when nobody's open :hmm2::hmm2:

Mags always seem reliable although they are load and put off a bunch of heat. I really like the Jebao dc I am using right now.

Read that the Jebao had some reliability problems in the past? Have you had any issues? Went ahead and ordered a Quiet One pump on sale.

Ugh, back to square one, the quiet one pump was really nice in pushing water around, but it's loud Hum was driving me crazy! Found another impeller for my eheim in my parts drawer, but still want to get a back up pump that's quiet.

It wont be death silent but it is the most quietest of all AC pumps I had been used (mag, Eheim, Rio, Reef Octopus)

ended up ordering a tunze 1073.050, it's going in a wet/dry sump so size was an issue also (lower water level, and even though many can be out of water, prefer in).

Just set up the tunze, and holy cr@p this things silent! Had to double check it was running. Considering it is replacing an Eheim, it even made the Eheim seem loud by comparison (and the Eheim was much quieter than other pumps I tried) Both my pumps made the Quiet One sound like a passenger jet in comparison!:p

Looking at the pictures of the Sicce, it looks very similar, but it is supposed to take less energy, and can even be controlled by Tunze controllers
