The BRS is 75 gpd and the spectrapure is 90. The spectrapure is also $5 cheaper, they are local, and their filters are 1 micron vs. 5 micron on the BRS unit. The better filters will result in longer use of the di resins.
I use the 7 stage RO/DI from water general. I got tired of going to get 5g jugs of drinking water every week so I bought it and love it. Ive had it for about 8 months now and I had to replace the di resin since it started to show up as .004 tds but I replaced it this month. Its a 150g per day sytem and has a faucet for purified water and a seperate hose for di water.
If you buy a used unit, you'll probably have to buy filters for it, too. If I was in your shoes, there's no contest, I would go to Spectrapure. I don't live anywhere near them, yet I only use Spectrapure unit/filters.

Yes, I agree, just make sure the used unit is cheap enough where buying new filters is still less than a new unit
I personally love my MaxCap unit and would not use anything else. If you have a small system a refub unit would be perfect. Keep in mind it doesn't come with tds meter and the DI resin in those units are not the best.

From what I've read you don't want to fully depend on an in-line tds meter. They are better than nothing but they are not as accurate and you want to check your membrane rejection rate with a hand held one. Ebay has some nice ones for cheap.
You can't go wrong with a BRS or Spectrapure. If both are the same price or close I probably go Spectrapure. Currently bought a used BRS 4stage value + booster pump for a great price. The DI/Resin is shot and I may or may not have to replace the membrane. Great thing is you can buy Spectrapure resin for your BRS as well as a membrane from Spectrapure to swap out instead. You can buy all the parts/resin locally without having to pay the high shipping costs on BRS.
I got a dual in-line tds meter. Seems like a really great tool but don't have anything to test it against.. I use 1 probe going into the resin and one coming out.
