My LFS said they qT their fish in copper for 10 days is that safe to say they would be ich/marinevelvet free?

Bottom line you are looking likely going to have better luck with fish from that store since they do take the time to quarantine there fish for a short period, but in no way should that eliminate or even shorten the quarantine period that you need to provide away from the stock at the fish store.

well I have QT tank and plan on QTing but was hoping it would cut some time down.. How long should I do a cupermine/prazi qt for new tangs? If they were already QT for a week @ LFS? My two fish now in QT have been in 0.5 mg of seachem copper for about 1 month is that to long? I just put in carbon today.

I really much prefer the tank transfer method followed by 6 weeks in quarantine, it's much easier on the fish. I do also treat with Prazipro while the fish are in the transfer tank.

Never trust an LFS version of QT. But it is better than not at all.
Surely you can find a place for a 10g TTM setup.
My guess is that you will find the room when you eventually get a sick fish in your DT.

Do you need a powerhead in the 5gal bucket? I could try two 5 gal buckets..but would need two heaters,(50w?) what else? no filter?

Yes. When I do the process, I have 1 air pump that I use for both tanks, but I use a different airstone for each transfer and I buy 25' of airline tubing, cutting some for each transfer.

Is there any directions on how to do this setup with two buckets? I have a 20 gal long QT but think I would try this with two buckets and then after TTM monitor in the 20gal long. I would need.. (2 5 gal buckets) (how many fish in each bucket?) I was thinking about adding 3 anthias.. (2 heaters 1 heater for each bucket) (1 air pump from petsmart or something) don't know how the air stones work but I guess you put that in the bucket and its like a bubbler? so I would need (2 air stones for each bucket) and airline tubing where would I get that petsmart? After first transfer clean out bucket with tap water, air dry the bucket, air stone, heater until next transfer? etc Do you guys use prazi in your 5 gal buckets if so how much?

Would that all work?

I'm pretty skeptical on LFS "quarantine." Copper can be hard on fish but it works for marine Ich IF done correctly. But the LFSs aren't going to do it properly. The way the stores use it provides no guarantee that the parasite has been eliminated for a host of reasons.

So the fish are still vulnerable to Ich & other maladies but are possibly stressed by a half baked copper treatment for no therapeutic benefit.

Maybe this partially explains all the accounts you read of mysterious SW fish deaths within the first week or two. I think the practice's main benefit is simply to keep the fish alive in the LFS holding tanks - not to deliver a disease free specimen to the final customer. Also, in theory this is how pathogenic organisms become resistant to once useful & effective medications.

1 month in copper is far too long. I am pretty sure cupramine recommends 14 days at .5.

Use a new airstone with each transfer. You can get a 4 pack for about $2.

Genuine question. I thought that catching and transferring fish was stressful in and of itself. Is just a straight QT with copper / prazi really more stressful than netting and transferring every other day four or five times?
