Lfs in so cal

Open a few months ago in Simi Valley.

Aquarium Connection
1663 E Los Angeles Ave
Simi Valley, CA 93065
805-497-3444

They have a great selection of livestock and coral.

I started buying my fish at Oceans Tropical Fish in Mission Viejo 8 months ago and every one of them is extremely healthy and completely disease free, even my tang and Moorish idol doing great and eating like crazy. I will not buy fish anywhere else now.

Aquarium City in Canoga Park has really upgraded their fish system and their fish selection . The quality has improved significantly in the last few months and their prices are good. I picked up a copperband, eight line flasher and a hybrid powder blue/white cheek in the last three weeks all are doing well in QT.

I noticed a new lfs in my town finally opened so I dropped by. It took some online sleuthing to find out it's the store of sexycorals.com. I'm not going to start any drama so all I'll say is that is the first and last time I'm stepping in that store. I have no problem driving farther and not leaving with a bad taste in my mouth.

Went to Medusa LA on Pico in West LA, since I was in the area. Looks like they have stopped carrying any saltwater... I only saw three clownfish.

Seems to be all fresh and reptile now.

not sure if anyone mentioned it but
CHANCE OF CORAL in Cypress, right next to Hawaiian gardens over the bridge is a nice place, the guys there are very helpful, Robert one of the partners is great dood who likes to help

Anyone know of a good saltwater fish store near San Clemente? My nephew is going to be starting his first fish tank (9 years old) and I want to point him to a solid store he can trust (healthy fish). It's just going to be FOWLR, so it doesn't need to necessarily be a coral store. Thanks!

It is not in San Clemente, but Coral Collection in Lake Forest is not that far from you. I have been there a few times recently and picked up some nice frags for fair prices. Matt is a friendly and helpful guy as well.

Definitely Oceans Tropical in Mission Viejo. I have a 150 gal for 8 months and everything is healthy. Never had a sick fish including my Moorish Idol and Powder Brown Tang. All eating and healthy from day one. David will tell you how to acclimate everything and although it is different from the "norm" I can't argue with 100% healthy results on some delicate fish that I could never keep before.

New LFS opened up in Burbank a few weeks ago. They are literally within walking distance from me. :D

Ultragem Fish & Coral
111 E. Cedar Ave Ste 101
Burbank, CA 91502

The location is a bit odd and might be hard to find. I was pretty happy with the store. They have great fish and coral selection and A LOT of very high-end reefing equipment in stock which I found pretty surprising.

Oh cool, I'll have to check them out, thanks for the heads up!

Just a warning about Ultragem in Burbank - I was stoked to check them out and detoured on the way home Friday. Wasted 40 minutes in traffic and a bunch of gas; even though they were supposed to be open until 9, no one was there when I got there at 10 to 7. No note that they were closed or would be back soon. If you go, call first. I'm not sure I'll be back, I was pretty irritated. :P

I won't disagree on the fish selection, but as for corals.. they don't have much. Prices for me are way too high and the guy will spin a story to sell you something.

That link has a lot of info. I went through a few pages.
If you go to valley, up the 405 fwy, Unique coral has a huge selection. They have a website but most of their coral aren't listed. They should be able to ship if needed. Call on advance if your going. Prices are so-so.

Any up to date info on orange county stores with a good selection of fish? Went to reef raft and it didn't seem like they had much fish at all. Reef lounge USA was awesome. Amazing aquariums didn't seem like they had many fish. Seaside tropical was awesome. Tongs had a good selection as well, but the fish do not look healthy. Saw at least 3 dead blue hippo tangs. Made me really sad.
