LFS just received 6 brown colonies from a well known wholesaler. He is selling the colonies for half price. The acros and stags looked like they were nice when they were originally purchased by the wholesaler but were kepted under low light for too long (just guessing). From experience do you guys think its worth the investment and try to bring them back. These are brown like mud from tip to base. I wish I could take pics but can't.

Half price of what? If they are 10 dlls originally and at half price you pay 5 then id say go for it, lol, but if they are 1000 dlls and at half price 500 dlls then i'd say NO, its your money you decide, they just might be another wolvering or superdragon swoop swoop designer acros in those turds, lol

You can find some amazing things in brown colonies... You can also get a coral that was kinda brown/tan to start with... And that's no fun... Also it can take 6-12 months for a coral to change... Soo are you okay with having something ugly in your tank for that long?
Isn't that what frag tanks are for?
I agree that It depends on the price. I don't know that I'd even pay half price. When I buy browned out acros at my LFS it is usually on the order of 25% of the usual cost, unless it is ORA. Some are still brown, some show some signs of coloring up, and a frag I just got went from mud to a nice baby blue with green polyps in a week.

Back in the days I would buy massive amounts of browned of pieces from the wholesalers it was always fun to see how they turned out.
