LFS Quarantine?

So my LFS has had a pair of clowns for ~2 months now. The clowns are kept in their own cube which is connected to a common sump for a few tanks. Before the water is pumped back to the tanks on that system everything goes through a UV sterilizer.

Additionally, they have a pretty thorough medication routine to proactively dose Ich-X, PraziPro & Metro+.

Given that my LFS takes all of these precautions, has had the fish for a decent amount of time & that I have no inhabitants in my DT - do you think I can add these directly to my DT?

Short answer: No. Do you really want to trust that the UV is properly sized, has a newish bulb, etc? The only quarantine protocol you should trust is your own.

Nope. Don't do it.

Since you have nothing in your DT, now is a GREAT time to establish your own quarantine protocol and put your incoming pair through it. I'd recommend TTM (tank transfer method) and then Prazi.

Two months is a long time in chemicals. Prolonged stays in treatments can cause liver damage shortening the life span considerably

lfs do not do qt

Qt is a rather elaborate procedure

The lfs also cannot benefit from qt because if you buy just one livestock from another source all its effort will be worthless.

Qt effort is decided by the last livestock you add to dt

Ich-X is not a proven treatment for Ich. There are only three reliable Ich cures: TTM, Hyposalinity, or Copper. I promise you, having Ich in your DT will be one of the most discouraging things you can experience as you try to eradicate it...and like pregnancy...totally preventable.
