just thought i'd share a colony and a frag i got from my LFS last night.

the first one appeard much more yellow than green in the store and theyre growing on a river rock... wierd. The back side of it has a different morph like black with red or pink center.

the second one wasnt doing so good and has alot of dying polyps but i bought it anyway because i like the way the living ones look :) Hopefully they'll bounce back.

yes, i know, there is a ricordia face down in the photo. Frickin snails :rolleye1:

I hope so. That frag is probably going to slowly die though. I like those morphs and i see them from time to time but its always unhealthy with rotting polyps. Probably a stupid buy knowing that it wont keep but i figured at least i could enjoy them while they're alive. Anyone have those (from the bottom pic) and could give me some pointers as to wat conditions they like? direct light or no? a lot or a little current? Thanks.

Start doing a furan 2 dip or if it looks like a slime fungus problem I beat mine with a hydrogen peroxide dip. Put the colony in a bowl of tank water...slowly add hydrogen peroxide until it just starts to bubble around the zoas. Use a turkey baster to puff water on the colony...use a little force...the dead and dying polyps will be blown off but that's a good thing. No more that 10 minutes...swish around in a fresh bowl of tank water and return to tank in area of good flow. I've saved a number of colonies this way.

I'll have to remember that. I did do muchos dip on them before they went into the tank. Most of the bad polyps have dropped and the ones that were looking good are still looking good so thats a good sign. I'm not going to mess with them now. I think they'll have a better chance if i dont disturb them.

You might want to move them away from your other zoas to keep them from getting sick.

Nice colony :) You should move the rock so you can take a picture of the two different types together. I think the contrast of the colors would be interesting.

they're still on the sand bed and not touching any of my other zoos.

I hope thats enough to keep that whatever it is from spreading.

I've had polyps like that before and it didnt spread though, i dunno if this is the same disease or whatever but it was the same type of polyps actually  i have no luck with these.

Thanks for the compliment. Maybe move them this weekend so i can get a better look at the other side.
