LFS that Robbed ME !!!!

I just went on the internet and found the reeflo snappers ranging from $300-$365. One internet website ranged them from $300-$500.

Seems like everyone on this thread is pricing these based on what one other shop is selling them for. That is hardly enough research to say that CC is selling these way to high. Based on my 10 minutes of research, CC dosen't seem to far off on price.

There is no rule that says what a store has to sell a product for. Every store has different bills to pay and their prices should be set to pay those bills and be profitable at the same time.

Keep in mind these stores are the gateway to the hobby. Without the stores, you don't have a hobby.

JMO. This is an issue of principle. I'm all about supporting a local business. I'll gladly pay a few bucks more for something at a local store just to give them my business. But if a local store tries to take advantage, they are done for me. It is pretty crappy IMO for a business to sell a pump for this much more just because the price for the newer ones went up. I understand people have a business to run, but some things go too far.

And what if Pierre wasn't open?? What would have happened then?? Would he complain that he wasn't open so he couldn't buy a pump?

No. And your still missing the point.

It's not so much complaining as making people aware. If folks want to keep spending too much like ya'll don't seem to mind it...then go right on ahead.

BTW...I have a 2008 Truck that I'll sell you for the 2010 price. Want it??

Do I HAVE to have it right now and is it the only truck available?

Well, sounds like you would have to drive quite far and wait at their doors to get the pump from marine depot if your pumped died on a holiday. You'd pay more in gas on that 08 guzzler than you would for a pump. You put that much in your guzzler in 2 weeks.

Instead of being mad at your LFS you should be giving God a what for, for breaking down your pump on a holiday weekend :D Seriously though, it really sucks that you had to pay more than you thought the piece of equipment was worth, but the facts are you pulled out your wallet and swiped the card, and i'm willing to bet you didn't spit in the owners face while doing it. This is one time that having a backup pump would have paid off. A retailer puts his blood and sweat into his business and because of that has the right to charge what he wants to. That doesn't mean you have to buy from him, but if you do, then deal with it. The LFS in my city is twice the price of anywhere else and 3 times the price of the internet, but they have an amazing selection of products and are in business because there are people out there who will pay it. If you owned the store wouldn't you want to make a profit?

I think the majority are grateful for the warning about the questionable price increase... just perplexed at the style. Sorry to let the style be the thing we reply to... drama breeds more drama!

My point. Not trying to make enemies, this thread has turned into people bashing each other and stores.

Obviously we all love and are passionate about the hobby and that's the way it should remain.

This thread should be closed IMO.

its the fact of fair pricing. He got jipped. He paid for the model with a new motor and he got the old motor.

With that being said a great lfs is on top of things like this making sure the customer gets the best deal.

Its black and white people, its a store taking advantage of a customer who does not know better. Theres only so much you can do when your pump goes out.

Who cares why they have them for the same price.

I understand your friends frustration, I really do, but what CC did, happens everywhere. Every shop does it, even your LFS of choice.

The other question is can you still buy the old pump or are they all new pumps. If so you have to raise the price on the old one, in order to cover the cost to buy the new one for the shelf oce you sell the old one. That is standard procedure in the retail world.
