I enjoy buying colorful corals at Coral Corral. Their prices on corals, especially frags are very fair. I will continue to shop there as I also enjoy their customer service and knowledge. I hope your gamble to save your livestock was worth it over the holiday weekend & this will become less painful for you over time so you can get back to enjoy your hobby. I enjoy the competition around town so I'm not stuck with just one store. They have items in their store that are cheaper than else where around town. Their are time that I didn't buy from them only to have to paid more around town.

Please let me know of the ones that do this so I don't support them. As a business "runner" myself, I couldn't sleep at night doing something like that.

buy gasoline much? :D

I don't like it... but hardly robbery. I could be persuaded to call price gouging robbery, but it's not like the price went up to 401.26 for JUST the holiday and then back down... it went up and is staying up. That's a price increase, just one that is in advance of the cost.

Thank you for sharing this information.

I hate LFS owners who have an atitude. We reefers not only deserve respect, but we desrvere basic common courtesy. I am glad I know this info now, because I will no longer patronize CC. Good livestock selection or not, an ignorant business owner are one in the same.

I have personally been disrespected by ron from exotic aquatics and the guy from st pete marine needs an atitude adjustment as well.

I'm a new FAOIS customer, but the respect I've gotten in the little time I've known of them will keep me coming back, regaurdless of the price.

I've been telling you people since Pierre opened that place not to go in there. I would quit reefing before speinding a single penny there. I have never and will never walk through the door to that place.

Of course you will not walk through the door of that awful place.
How could you give this up?

This is why i look know further that FAOIS. I have been a loyal customer to John and Jennifer for the past 9 years. They are both very honest and John really cares about the hobby.

The metal industry does it all the time. The distributor pays x amount for sheets of metal that they keep in stock. If the price of metal goes down cheaper than they originally purchased it at they still have to ask the higher price on those sheets. It also works the other way around, if they buy low and metal goes up they charge low for those sheets. It pays to shop around. Not for everything but for sure in the metal industry.
Regards,
Doug

This is not a John vs. Pierre thread....let's stay on topic.

Not when I get a free jab at Mike :p

Price changing 101 if the new price is lower leave the original price on the box. If the new price is HIGHER peel the old price off.

X2 on never walking through the door there, I refuse to go to a store that was opened to put another store out of business.

Every gas station in business is guilty of what CC did. They get a truck on the same day every week unless they run out and an exception is made. They take the current price and apply it to every gallon in the tank. I would contact reeflo as mentioned above just to let them know. They may do something about it. I doubt they will pay you anything but they may require CC to sell their product within a certain price range or quit selling to them all together. It is worth a try.

This is a good lesson learned. In the retail world, if someone is in a bind and the retailer has questionable morals, the customer will always get screwed.

John is the exception. He has offered to help me when his store was closed.

CC seems kinda stuck up to me but 1 good thing I can say is the 1 time Ive been there they were changing all there MH bulbs after 6 months use and the guy gave me all the ones I wanted for free I now have a bunch of used 20k 400 watt radiums lol It may depend on the worker whose there. I cant really say much though I have only been there once. I did see some fish Ill probably never see again in my life (clarion angel) etc etc

I actually know a gas station owner and they make 3 cents per gallon just to let you know

Ok, to get back on topic.

Does this bug me? Yes
Did I think better of CC before this? Yes
Do I think he got robbed? Nope.

It was his choice to pay that much. I would have walked out the door. It sucks that they felt the need to jack up the price on the older model pump, but that's their choice. They make extra $$ on the desperate/suckers and they lose more $$ when other hobbyists hear about them trying to pull a fast one. It wouldn't be my choice of advertising, but it's Pierre's store.

If I drive all the way to Oldsmar then I go to both FAOIS and Coral Corral. I love Coral Corral's selection of zoas and LPS and I trust both Craig and John there. If neither one of them are there, then I am less likely to buy something. But the hardware prices they charge make me stick almost exclusively to livestock purchases from them.
I can't go exclusively to FAOIS until he gets rid of all that useless SPS and fills his tanks with zoas/palys and LPS!!

I personsally dont see robbery I see supply and demand, wether you could get it cheaper or not, a store isnt required to match anyone elses prices.
I FEEL for you though especially knowing you could get it cheaper else where but you took what option you had readily available, just my 0.2 for what its worth
