There is a HUGE difference between what a fish from a far-away land HAS to go through to get here to Florida and putting it through additional and unnecessary stress to make money

Ok .. so what would you call ordering a fish online????????? Isn't this additional stress??? But this is ok right???

regularly quarantine their livestock and refuse to sell sick fish

Do you read the threads on here or what....because you are a little behind I will refresh...pet mart will spend more money on medicating and feeding a fish back to health than the fish will even sell for. For the slow folks. this means they lose money because they care about the livestock. If the livestock was not healthy then how can they have a 30 day guarantee on the fish. Does anybody else have this? I have been around just like you folks and have never seen one. If the fish they sent home were all sick and about to die like so many folks claim then pet mart would have gone out of business a long time ago with a 30 day guarantee.

Ok let’s see umm yeah a natural environment for a fish is in a tank. Think about how stressful it is to have fish in a tank and then someone come in with a net or container and try to catch them. Not only does it stress out the fish that is being sold but all the other fish in the tank too. Multiply that times all day, times all week and yeah that makes for a real "natural environment":fish1:

those fish SAT at the store on a TABLE for hours. Not just 20 minutes.

Man once again sweetheart I think you should read slower before you fly off the deep end. I said they sit in bag for 20 mins or so while they are being transported from the fish system at pet mart warehouse to the sale. And Yes I was at the sale and YES they were gone quick. The first delivery lasted for less then an hour. They made 3 deliveries that day because the fish were selling so fast. Nothing sat there for hours.

putting a gd mandarin (or any fish) IN A BAG so that anybody and everybody can shake it, mash it, poke it, stick it up in the light, etc is NOT being a conscientious pet store

This Just keeps getting better. I would love to shut up and move on but man this is too much fun. its like you guys dumped gas on a small fire. Hard to resist such ignorant comments. Ok So no more bagging fish is what you’re saying. And no more mailing fish either because they are shaken, mashed and so on. Once again seems like if you really care about the fish you would all stop buying them. You think that these fish want to be caught off the reef, shoved in bags, flown all over the world, shoved in tanks and so on? No. So don’t sit here and say you are just concerned about the live stock because that’s a bunch of B.S.

Why is that so amazing? I might not post 20 times a day every day all my life like some with no life...but I read and I read fast. I have only to been to fish+things one time. But before i went i knew more about fish+things then i know about any store. What live stock was in, how nice it was(and from what i read and SAW it WAS), what was on sale, what was just bought (nice job folks, honeslty i would love to see eveyones tanks and here how much they spent(time and money) and share my own becasue i love the hobby too) and much much more. In all fairness with John, (owner fish+thing) very little of these details came from john, which is good beasue these are the rules. SO ONCE AND FOR ALL I PRAY>>>>Pet mart doesnt give, pay, loan, share, or borrow money from/to me. I dont think I can make it much simpler folks. i mean i guess i could scann thousands and thousands of dollars of recipts and post them. I actually have them all since the fisrt time i shoped in pet mart. i was one of the first WOM mebers and when I heard about how Pet Marts point system worked I though, No way This place can afford to do that. I have walked out of that store with out spending a dime with the best lights a reefer could hope to have. This is how i spend my points anyways. Dont get me wrong it takes some time to save them points up but I have only been shopping at pet mart for about 6 years and gotten two advanced reef lights. Not the light you guys buy from ESU either.

Ok Even I am in with you folks on this one. The Praetorian guard is pretty funny. I remember reading this about a year or so ago. But I actually thought it was a complement. I got a Powder Brown Tang from Pet mart about 6 months ago.. He had a little ich on him but seemed healthy. I paid 27 dollars for him with the "WOM" thing. He is Small to medium sized... about 4 1/2 inches long. Now he is very healthy and no sign of ich and runs my 210 and I have a 9-10 inch Naso.. I have seen bad deals everywhere and sick fish.. I think for the first time EVER I saw a sick fish in johns tank. I think it was a 6 line... Not sure though. By Far Johns is the nicest, best priced, lots of SPS , most knowledgeable store in the area.

Every time I go into other stores I see dead fish everywhere.

I think everyone should stop badmouthing stores... If you dont like it simply dont shop there. Its that simple. We all know how much we spend in this hobby so losing a customer is bad for business. And Reading how bad a store is in a post is just stupid because most of us already know.

Pre bagged fish is horrible. I couldnt imagine the scene I would have created if I went in there and saw that... I probably would have been arrested.
Sometimes I treat my fish tanks better than i think I would treat my own kids.. I even talk to them through the glass.... Does anyone else do this??? Please dont tell me I am the only one.

For those of you who do not know.. Nick(Big sweaty italian guy) I think I have the right person?? He does not even have a tank at home, which makes me think even more that he is just in this for the money. 1/2 the stuff in his store is NOT FOR SALE god that ****es me off..

Yes this is correct. Big, sweaty, Greek. I've never seen a store owner work so hard. Hes like Paul Bunyan but instead of carrying around an axe he carries bags loaded with helpless, cute little fish.....lol....joke about the bags but go ahead fire at this one too folks

if you knew anything about this local forum you would know the origin of the term Fish Nazi it ha nothing to do with the actual nazis it has to do with the seinfeld character called the soup nazi thats the whole no fish for you joke and that is all it is I guess I will need to make a special trip down to busch blvd so i can meet the big sweaty greek guy and visit his marvelous fish store if I was you the thing I would be wondering is why so many people who have nothing to gain at all have chimed in about this and you are the only one attempting to defend Pet Mart I have no doubts that I am with the majority of people here you deal with john we deal with him because he consistently has top quality product I personally wouldnt care if he was Dr. Evil himself as long as I got great product and good prices and when I had a question I got an answer that was as correct as it could be

That's the post that opened this thread. The 2 week window is long over, and I can see that this thread has no purpose other than to pour gas on a fire.
