Hi,
I will be in San Francisco tomorrow through wed on business. Any good stores around? I will be staying at the Palace hotel on 2 new montgomery st. I am not familiar with San fran and won't be renting a car, but hopefully there's something in walking distance? I have 6 hr to kill tomorrow when I arrive.

thanks,
Bill

woo.. umm i don't think there are any within walking distance, that's for sure. if someone wants to correct me. but with 6 hours, you could probably visit a few with public transportation.

6th ave is a store i like to go to. especially sunday mornings where they have bag sales. that's in the richmond district, on clement street.

Seriously, if you are going to spend 6 hours of free time in SF, there are better things to see! (You couldn't even buy anything and bring it home)!

I suggest maybe checking out Steinhart's Aquarium on Howard Street.
You'll have to look it up to get the right address, but you could probably take a nice walk from new Montgomery.
Oh what the heck, here's the google path
http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=875+Howard+St,+San+Francisco,+CA+94103+(California+Academy+of+Sciences)+%4037.781780,-122.404183&saddr=2+new+montgomery+st,+san+francisco,+ca&f=li&hl=en&dq=Steinhart+aquarium+loc:+2+new+montgomery+st,+san+francisco,+ca&cid=37788390,-122401630,5719552293102576317&ie=UTF8&z=16&om=1

NOTE: IT's also called California Academy of Sciences and it's the TEMPORARY home of Steinharts while the "big new shiny building" is being built.

But, this is assuming that you are interested in a 20,000 gallon reef tank... ;)

For a more interesting walk, walk down Market or Mission street rather than Howard.

Enjoy!

V
