Has anyone used one of these if so can you give me your opinion on it.

If this is the one that requires an aqua lifter pump or similar I wouldn't chance it. If the pump fails and they will, look out. The only type of hob overflow I'd recommend is one that has two drains and dual u-tubes. At least then if one tube loses syphon or a drain is clogged there is a little forgiveness.
