lifespan of hippo tang

Just curious... My hippo is now 5 yrs old, and he seems kinda tired these days.

My 5 yr old rabbitfish died of a tumor a few mo's ago....

Hippo tangs should live for a long time. Much longer than 5 years. I took care of one at an aquarium store I used to work at and they got it in 1992 and it is still going strong.

In the wild, it is generally at least 10 years (which is pretty much the minimum).

Agreed. All of our former society president's tangs(hippo included) were 10+years and looked great.

just make sure to be feeding him his nori (greens) and supplementing vitamens in his food. good luck

I think he died... He disappeared.... and I have a small ammonia spike.
Bummer, I raised him from the size of a quarter.

He got lots of greens, pellets and mysis...
