Light acclimation for a new carpet

Just got a purple/lavender carpet yesterday -- pretty sure that it is a haddoni, but I don't know for sure. Added it to a very established 230 gallon tank with blue haddoni that is still thriving after 13 years and several rbtas and many soft corals.

Turned off all lights (LEDs) except for one strip of blues as part of the acclimation.

Looked this morning before the lights came on and the new anemone appeared to be doing great. Once the main lights came on, the new anemone started to immediately deflate. Turned off the lights except for the single blue strip and it sprang back to live. I think it is safe to say it is being overwhelmed by the lights.

Anyone disagree? If not, how long will it take for the new specimen to accept the full lighting period? Any suggestions on helping it to acclimate? All suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I would take him out and QT him, possibly treat him with antibiotic. I lost a healthy Haddoni of many years when I introduced a sick anemone to the system. It would be sad if this happen to you too.

Believe me there is nothing worse than putting something sick in a good tank with other healthy inhabitants. (Not saying yours is sick)

When they first get introduced to a tank they normally purge and start to acclimate to their new surroundings. The new purple/lavender will definitely sense the existing blue. The blue has lived in it long enough to be used to the parameters.

QT will ensure it gets a chance to acclimate to the new tank and water. I do water changes from the existing tank into the QT. That way it gets the same water where it is going to.
