Light fixture fan

My 72" Nova Extreme Pro needs a fan. I called Current and they told me to replace it with a 3"x 1" computer fan. Are some more quiet than others, I have no experience in this area. It appears I only have to remove four screws from the reflector to access the fan. Current service rep made it sound easy.

Any help appreciated

John,
Easy fix once you pick the right fan.
They will have different speeds, air flow (CFM) & noise levels (Decibels).
Best bet is to check a computer website for fans & decide.
Newegg, Tiger Direct or Amazon.

I would remove it and take a trip to radioshack. If they are cheep enough grab 2 different ones. They usually accept returns that were opened pretty easily

John the same thing happend to 2 NEPs that i owned. In both cases, after closer inspection i noticed that the paint was peeling inside the fan bore. The fan blade was getting hung up on the edge of the paint causing the fan to remain still. One of the lights needed to be disassembled to clear the peeling paint. I got the other one to work by poking a knife blade into the fan housing from the outside and scraping the raised paint edge. Both fans worked fine after removing the peeled paint. The paint usually starts peeling on the edge closest to the water. Hope this saves you a headache.
