Light Setup - Is this a scam?

I checked out the eBay link, and it says that it is made in China. It does not give a known brand name, so who knows about the quality of the components and how well it is built. The eBay seller does have a good feedback rating of 99.6% positive, though.

you can read the reviews, It looks as though everyone bought light fixtures and was really happy with them. There are 2838 reviews. You can always send the seller an e-mail and ask for additional info and pictures. If all the reviews were by customers who were making their first purchase I would be worried, but it looks as though most are regular ebayers. I would use paypal if you decide to get this fixture. Also it looks like the only 4 negative feedbacks were over products that were were received broken or over tracking, so check to make sure yours work within 2 days as stated in the terms, you must report any defects within 2 days of receiving the product. Let us know if you get it how it goes.

Do a Google search on Odyssea lighting. Seems like they are getting fair reviews. Certainly are priced right.

im pretty sure there the one for sale is the same as an odssea light i just ordered the 72" from ebay i hope it gets here soon ..... the lights both have the same specs......when it gets here i can show you some pictures.........

Odyssea used to have a 'burn-your-house-down' reputation. they also used to use non-standard DE bulbs, limiting your selection and forcing you to buy replacements from them.

it looks like a wide fixture, it might look funny on the ends if it hangs over due to the bowfront. and if the reflectors are any good, 250w might be a bit much for your tank if you want to go with white bulbs. they probably aren't though so i wouldn't be too worried.

it would be much nicer if it was t5 supps rather than PC.

dunno the specs on the ballasts they include, but most electronic ballasts don't drive DE hard enough. this makes the bulbs wear out faster because they don't get hot enough to keep all the good stuff fully vaporized in the inner envelope.

but for the price, i guess you can't go too wrong.

Thanks for all the input! I am going to pass on this system and keep researching different (established) systems.
