Lighting Change

I am thinking of adding another 250 watt MH to my 36x24x24 tank. I have a icecap 250 watt right now on a luminarc 3 reflector I am going to need to replace it if I get another balast so I am wondering if I should just go DE then I could run 2 pheonix 14 k bulbs. are DE cooler?

or other bulbs I didn't have my heart set on the pheonix but I can get a bluer bulb but still have high par.

Love my Phoenix bulb, I have only been running mine for about a month tho.

I've been reading that they are good for about 9 months.... I guess I will see. :)

Just letting you know that the Phoenix bulbs are only good for a maximum of 6 months.

I am running phnx 8months. I dunno. What are better bulb to replace phnx n have same colour as phnx longer lifespan?

Sunlight is coming out with lumenarc pendants that are much smaller, you could easily use these. I saw them at IMAC and they look great.

why not stick with the lumenarc family. they came out with a DE pendant. i was told that the size is 13" x 12" x 7"H. i just ordered one because I'm switching to phoenix myself. i've seen a few tanks running phoenix and personally, i think the colors are great.

I'm with you gil716 but not with the Phoenix. I think this bulb got a lot of hype in the beginning but it's beginning to die down. I hate mine. It's a nice blue but everything is so dull. clkwrk says running an icecap ballast makes the bulb great. I'm still trying to get more info from him. I just posted a thread on Phoenix bulbs so check it out for what he has to say.
Zaphod, I saw the DE pendant, I'm not sure if they are doing SE

the thing I am looking at is there is just no room in my canopy so I need to switcht the 1 luminarc for somthing smaller so I can get 2 in there.

I thought 1 or 2 years ago every one was raving at how great the DE bulbs were. I guess it has swung back to SE huh? Do the DE run any cooler?
