I use 150 halides on a 28 inch high tank. the anenome is under a rock on the bottom and comes out during the day on the rock to catch a few rays.
You should still target feed them once a week to keep them happy. Mine eats half a jumbo shrimp twice a week.
I had my haddoni under 6*65 Watts PC ( in my 75 ) for the last 1.5 years that I have had it. I just upgraded the lights to 2 *250 DE.
Short lighting history for this carpet ---
Years 1-2 In my 58 with 3*96 watt PC.
Years 3-4 In my 58 with 2*175 + 2*96 PC
Years 5-6 In my 75 with 6*65 PC
Two weeks ago, in my 75 with 2*250 DE + 2*54 T5.
Sure there wasn't as much growth when it was under the PCs, but it always looked great -- growth was also limited by me not feeding all that often.
For a gigantea you want as much light as you can get without boiling your water.
Edit: I'm sorry that really didn't answer your question.
I might be tempted to go with 1-250watt for better penetration.
With the 2-175watt bulbs you might want to design a spot up in the rockwork where the carpet can sink its foot with its oral disk exposed. Like this:
Since target feeding was brought up, I've heard conflicting advice on that. some people feed mysis/chopped up seafood, and some people feed, like, whole shrimp. which is more advisable?

IMO you have to experiment---I put half of a jumbo shrimp on a long pair of plastic gripers(I think they are designed for feeding lizards)--if he can take it in its month then it will--otherwise just spit it out.

I agree that you have to experiment. It is a lot of work for the anemone to pull in lots of little pieces, but it is also a lot of work to digest large pieces. I have gone towards the middle. I now feed two or three pencil eraser sized pieces of shrimp, silverside, scallop or Formula 1. Most of my anemones are also quite adept at catching food meant for the fish as well.
