Lighting for frogspawn or Hammer. Is it enough?

Well a little update stand is almost completed doing final stuff on it and then sanding and painting it so should be done soon then it is a matter of getting my light which I am thinking of the TEK 6 bulb light any inputs? After that then it will be a transfer going on and hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Well stand is finally done and hopefully ordering light soon for the 90 and then will start the transfer from the 45 to 90. Things are all looking good.... so excited cant wait to get the new tank up and going.

Stand is done......Tank and some dry rock are in waiting on my light and then will begin the transfer......So I am trying to think of aquascaping and I think I am going ot go with a two island but the islands will be more like coves in the front any thoughts or ideas?

Transfer is complete 90 is up and running fine and the transfer went well. Will post pictures later tonight. No casualities......which is great and everyone is doing fine.

So everything went well and I will get pictures up as soon as I can..... I did pick up a elegance coral so taking the leap and will see how it goes not sure where it came from I got it from a petco for dirt cheap so figure it won't hurt since they could not take proper care of it..........I will take some pics and post them

as promised here are the pictures of the new tank and arrangement let me know what you guys think.....

You purchased what looks to be an Indonesian elegance. It doesn't look to be doing well either. Tissue has receded, polyp's withdrawn, and small tentacles. If you ever purchase another elegance, please make sure it's Australian.

Will do EC I was not planning on it but the store it was in I knew it would die so I figured what the heck and try and save it. Is there any hope for this coral I have moved it to a low flow shaded spot hoping it might pull thru is there any hope on this or am I just going to watch it die?

I just dont like seeing corals die if I can help it..........I guess I dont help the situation between indo and aussie when I bought this guy but I figured it would do better in my tank then the lfs. I just thought it was getting used to the tank since they got it in I have only had the thing maybe three days. Any help on this one EC would be greatly appreciated if there is anything I can still do for it.

y0ung0ne, with what I've read so far you like the way certain corals look with the right flow.
Not that this suggestion belongs here but why not try some pulsing xenia?? They are an amazing soft coral, and grow like weeds! Just figured I would throw it out there.

big cats thanks for the input i will take it in to consideration and take a look at them I currently have all lps except one colt coral which is a tiny frag right now. Thanks for the input and I will look in to them.

No problem! I currently have a mixed reef with LPS and softies, and some zoas.

I started out just like you with a torch and a hammer, and am looking into a frogspawn next. Just waiting for that one that just grabs my eye. Lol
I definitely like your tank and after seeing how yours grew so quickly I can't wait to see how mine turns out.

I am thinking about taking the leap eventually and curious if my lighting will be enough to make these coral happy. I like the way they move and look and so does my girl friend. I have a 45 gallon tank with a good flow my lights are 4X96 W power compact with lunars. If any one could let me know I would greatly appreciate it I run two white and two blue.

My first tank was a 46g bow front and I ran 4x96w power compacts back in 2005. Frogspawn was one of my first Corals and I still have it and have prob given away 100 plus heads through the years. It's been in a 165g with 3 250w mh for about 3 years now but it all started in the 46g. I too love the frogspawn!

Big Cats- yeah i might be getting another depending on what happens. Thanks I try hard to make my tank look as natural as I can. Yeah it started with only two heads and i believe are up to eight if not more.

Y0ung0ne- frogspawn are definitely one of my favorites as well, I picked up a 5 headed (very, very small heads) tank raised blue and green frogspawn yesterday. They may be small, but dang they are AMAZING in color! Best part about it was the price. $5 for all 5 heads. Yup, $1 a head :) I got a bunch of other stuff as well, but that was the highlight of the purchase. I didn't even know it was those colors until I got it home.

Nice pick up big cats......would love to see a picture of that when you get a chance. Congrats on the frogspawn and be ready because it will grow quick part of the reason i had to do a upgrade not so much fish but for the coral.
