Lighting for frogspawn or Hammer. Is it enough?

Glad to hear the LTA is doing good yeah I wouldn't think it would but now that you say it I guess it would blend.....Oh well it is a nice addition. The GBTA is great eats greedily as well fun to have in the tank just hope my clowns will host it.

Thanks for the suggestions are they hard to keep? I was thinking about them or zoas but I have not made up my mind also looking for the more lps that pops at you. the rare colors of frogspawn and torch.

No, IME Acans are not hard to keep. They do prefer lower flow, or a slow acclimation to a medium flow so if you are thinking of trying SPS they may not be a good choice.

Mine have survived some pretty nasty noob mistakes and are still going strong. Zoos are a good choice too though. Be careful, you can get pretty addicted to those little guys. :D

lol yeah and are expensive too......no i dont think i am going to do sps anymore i like the look of lps and the movement so i think it will be softies and lps for me. I think i am going to look in to zoas and acans is there anything i need to watch out for? since i am a noob with them i will need to do some research.

Acans can be a bit territorial. I've had a few instances where another coral happened to fall onto the acan, and the acan started digesting the other coral. Acans can also expel some of their digestive tract to give them a reach advantage but this isn't usually more than an inch or two and it doesn't seem to happen often. They are fine to keep in close range with other acans and do enjoy a feeding once or twice a week. Once they are stable and settled in they seem to grow at a fairly good rate but if you buy frags they can take a while to come around. Other than that good clean water, low-medium flow and medium light will make most of them pretty happy.

yeah i picked up two new frags one is a frogspawn green with purple tips and the other is a goniporia which has taken well to my tank which i am really surprised but i couldnt pass up the price. I will take pictures shortly and will post them so you guys on here can see the elegance perished but I didnt have high hopes after ec left his opinion.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the elegance. I wish they would just stop collecting these corals out of Indonesia. I hope the experience hasn't turned you away from the species as a whole, just the Indonesian version. The Australian elegance are completely different, as far as survivability is concerned.

No hasnt turned me away just worried whether it is a coral for me or not i have seen some beatiful specimens lately but not sure which is which i believe they are aussie. is the difference in the color? I have noticed the indo have more green and purple is this correct? I think i will do more research on them before i will ever consider another. Somethings though i believe should just be left in the ocean though and agree they should stop collecting and let the species repopulate itself.

When you're ready to get another one, just find a reputable dealer that's known to deal in Australian corals, and ask them where it's from. Live Aquaria has them all the time.

I will keep my eye out and see what i think they are great corals and would love to have one just think i might wait and do more research I will make sure next time it is a australian.

You definitely love your Euphyllia don't you, lol. :D

New frogspawn is looking awesome and so is the goniporia. Sorry to hear about the elegance. If I ever try one, I know to look specifically for aussies. Won't be a while for me though, not in a 29g, lol.

Yeah Rush the Euphyllia just moves me I guess lol just is really nice yea losing the elegance was not fun and might try again here in the future but for the time being the Euphyllia just takes off in my tank which is great. Thinking of maybe getting some acans or trying some other stuff just know my goby and pistol love to dig and so I have to be careful where I put my coral. thinking of getting some trumpet coral as well. Trying new things the goniporia is doing fine and for the price was not bad I know they have a hard to keep so trying to see if my tank can maintain it so far it looks great and hopefully it will continue and grow.

Acans and Trumpet should do fine in your tank. Both are easy to keep and really don't demand much. Neither of them have to be on the sand bed either. So the goby and shrimp should not be a huge factor at least for these types.

Coral props has some nice acans at a decent price. They are small pieces but are decent quality. I've been looking at vividaquariums myself. They have some stuff that's a little more pricey but more variety and more color.

wow that is incredible.........I am thinking about maybe some acans not sure if I want to go to with zoas but i would like some more color in it. Just not sure which way I want to go and then also placement is key as well since my YWG and pistol shrimp man the bottom I have a few spots I can place corals without worrying about them getting buried but not many.

Well i took the leap I got a acan and some zoas...........here some shots let me know what you think
