Lighting question

Is 300W split day/night too much for a 75 gallon tank? I stage the nights to be on longer than the day. I have the nights on 10 hours and the days on for 7.

Everyone seems to be adjusting but my Green Sinularia aren't looking very good but not if that is the reason. My clown won't stay out of it so sometimes it does this.

What does everyone think?

300 watts of T5, VHo, MH or what? It is very different is you have 2 x 150 De 10k fixtures 4 inches off the water pounding the 75 gallon tank vs 300 watts of a older CP fixture with mixed color bulbs hanging 10 inches off the water.

That's probably a little intense if they have individual reflectors. You could raise them up and gradually move them back down, but since a 75 gallon tank isn't terribly deep to begin with, you're probably putting too much light into the tank at that height for softies.

That's a lot of light depending in what brand bulbs and how good of reflectors. I have 5 t5 ho and just had to raise it to 7 inches as it was bleaching sps halfway down tank. For a soft tank just the 4 bulb should be more than enough.

yep- my green singularia, I think you got yours from me, does best under VHO's at 6 inches off the water and the coral is about 3/4 deep in the 90 gallon tank. So 6X54 watt T5's at 4 inches in a 75 gallon is definitely bright.
