lighting questions

I just bought a Current Satellite 4x65w light fixture and sadly it appears one of the ballast is dead. Where would i be able to get a new or used ballast? Also what corals would work with this fixture that a valantine puffer and a spotted hawk would leave alone? And one last thing, what is a good amount of time to have the tank lit? Thanks

My light is like yours in wattage. Not sure about your ballast, I have 90 gallon with a little mixture of soft corals along with a snowflake eel and a few other fish. My corals consist of only colt coral, some red, blues and green mushroom corals. They seem to be left alone. Here is a exceprt from some reading regarding lighting.

The ideal 'photo period', or length of time the aquarium is lit, ranges from eight to twelve hours, depending on the tank. Generally ten hours a day is a good average for most aquariums.
Adjusting the Time
If algae is a problem in the tank, a contributing factor is usually too much light. Reducing the artificial lighting time to eight hours, or a bit less if necessary, will help reduce the algae growth.
If there are live plants in the aquarium, the lighting should be increased. Plants require as much as twelve hours per day, however the time will depend on the aquarium setup and species of plants.
