Lighting suggestions for an 8g

Yup That Stuff
I'm setting up an old 8g cadlights tank, Aprox 12x12x12, and I'm looking for suggestions on lighting for it. I think I want to go LED due to the size of the tank but am really open to anything. Thanks

Thanks I had seen that one, wasn't sure if it would be too wide of a spread for a 12" tank. But it does look pretty nice.

How is the light spread at the top of the tank? What I'm trying to ask is the cone of light flowing over the sides of the tank at the top.

I have a Kassil 160 over my 12'' cube and yes there is light spill, I started at the lowest setting and raised it VERY SLOWLY, I have all LPS and Chalice's.

Sorry just found this thread again I have my 160 at about 40% I do not use a controller. Have you considered a AI Prime HD they have a built in controller I have one as well I won it at MACNA and I have not had a chance to play with it yet. I will put it on my 12'' cube and see how it compares to the Kassil 160. PS I love your avatar.

I'll look into the AI Prime, I'm not stuck on one company. Things have changed quite a bit since I had a tank last. I appreciate you comparing the lights. Thanks not sure where I found that aviator but I'm sure it was back in 07 lol.

Looks pretty good, 265$ with the mount included so roughly 10$ more than the Ai Prime with a mount. The outer color options look pretty cool too.

Moondoggy, what do you think about the fan sound from the prime? My tank will be in my living room in close proximity to where people sit. Is the fan noise very audiable?

Another thing I like about my NanoBox is that there are no optics so the colors really blend nicely. As far as the fan goes it's pretty quiet. The speed can be adjusted to make it even more quiet when needed. Dave is a stand-up guy who really takes care of his customers.

I have a question about the tide Smatter, what is the difference between having 2 dimmable channels and 4 dimmable channels. I'm thinking that the 2 channel controls the intensity of white and blue and the 4 channel will control blue, white, red and green? Or am I totally wrong ha. Thanks.

I will pull out my AI Prime HD and let you know. I have the Kessil and I have not had a complaint about the fan noise, my hearing isn't the best buy wife is.
