Lighting upgrade complete!

Well thanks to Mitch (Keresso316) for the great assistance he was able to give me my lighting upgrade is complete. Sunday evening we pulled out the (3) Hamilton Reefstar's and installed the (6) PFO mini's over my 180. We ran into a small snafu when one of the 10K bulbs would not fire (rectified) and I for some reason did not have 2 of the eye bolts to hang the last pendant (rectified).

For all of you that were not aware, I wanted to try something that I have not heard of being tried before. As of now, I am running one 250 watt 10K and one 250 watt 20K over each of the three two foot sections of my standard AGA 180 tank.

Hearing of lighting fads coming and going I thought that I would try using all of the "common" spectrum bulbs to cover the areas of growth and color. The next six months should tell me if I wasted my time or not.

It is going to be kind of difficult to tell for awhile because due to an unfortunate power outage on Memorial day plus my old Phoenix bulbs being way past their useful life, I have several colonies STNing on me right now and I think that only time will settle this down especially if you consider jumping up to 2000 watts of light over a 6 X 2 foot area.

I will try to get some pics up later this week of the lighting system so that all of you can see for yourselves how I fit it all in there but unfortunately until my system re-stabilizes there will not be any tank or coral pics. I can tell you that already several of the corals that are still doing fine look completely different under the new lighting and it will be fun to see how they are going to grow and (I hope) color shift.
