For my 40G breeder should i get a Galaxyhydro™ WiFi & Manual Control 55×3w Dimmable 165w LED Aquarium Light or Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light, 24 to 36-Inch?? For all types of coral except sps. I can waste up to $150.

2 of 165w (55 x3w) will great for your tank, also one of 32'' 300w programmable led light will be fine if your tank no center brace

Look at the specs on the Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED. They suck! It uses leds that are only 0.25 watts. Other fixtures use 3.0 watt leds. Any guess why I say it sucks?

Even their chart of a 24" deep tank shows PAR falls below 120 at just about 4" to 6". You want 150 to 200 PAR at the bottom if you are going to GROW healthy corals.

BTW, Marineland leds are just as bad. They both are acceptable for use over a 12" deep tank with softies and maybe lps corals.

What about one AquaIllumination Hydra

I got a build my led (BML) for my newly set up 40br
so far i like it. however it more than 150..

so if your looking for quality lights on a budget look in to the mars black box off ebay.
there is a preatty long thread review of them on here. I belive you could pick up to of thee inits for just a little more than 150 if I remembers correctly.

one Hydra would not give you the spread of a 36" tank. you would need 2. but the good news is if you up grade down the rd you have lights. same with Kessils halos etc. lighting a 3' tank is kinda tricky in that way. so IMHO your best bet is DIY or better yet black box.

good look! and welcome to RC!

Im in the same situation, but just a 85g tank, I want to try and have all kind of corals.

2 55x3w GallaxyHydro light fixture should be ok? Should I get the Wifi or just the manual?

The tank is 48.5"L x 18.5" W x 21.5" T

Cheers
