90 gal set up about 3 monthes now, fowlr. lights went out. the whole element, new lights wouldn't work. took the large, heavy canopy off and gutted it all out. any reason i can't hit wallyworld for shop lights? they have a 2 foot fixture, i could fit two of them in the hood, giving me four lights.

If You did use them I wouldnt use shop light bulbs.Your tank will look yellow.You can get 6500k bulbs at Lowes/HD that might not look too bad being a fish only tank.Good luck.

my hardware store sells t8 and t5 fixtures with 2 bulbs on each fixture 48 inchs for 20$ thats what i am getting for my fowlr

the fixture will work fine, but get yourself a 10k and an axtinic, only because it really looks better than just a 6500k

With a FOWLR tank lighting is going to be your preference. Most people like the blues of actinic and the whites of the 65K, but if you can live with florescence from the hardware store than by all means.

i thought the shop lights were ok, till i read that they made the tank look yellow. now i see the yellow. not good! off to lowes...
