I was woundering how long does everybody run their lights? Right now I run my lights for about 12 hours. I'm having alittle bit of a algae problme and was woundering if I could shorten up how long I run my lights. I don't really know how long of a light period my corals need though.

That's quite the photoperiod Monty! :eek1: How's your corals looking? Any of your SPS lightening up? You're just using 1) 150WDE MH right?

I think you almost have to go by trial and error to see how your tank responds to it since each tank is unique. In my 210, I only keep the MH on for 6 hours and 40 minutes each. 2 hours of VHO actinic for dusk/dawn. In my nano, I keep my lights on for 8 hours since i don't use any actinics. More or less, I keep my lights on to suit my viewing hours w/ the health of the corals in mind first though.

my hole lighting period is about 11 hourse with 8 being MH's. I remember seeing a few tank of the months with 12 hr MH's cycle. So whatever works for you

I'm thinking i run mine a bit long. I usually have my T-5's on at 8am MH's on at 12, them MH's off at 8 then T-5's off at 10.

Soon as i get a DC unit for my ACII ill have it run off the seaonal lighting program.

My actinics t5's go on at 9am, 75/25 t5's go on at 10:30am, halides on at 12 noon. Then halides off at 7p, 75/25's off at 9p, actinics off at 11p.

I have been running my MH for 8 hours and t5's for about 12 hours this is not set in stone though as I don't have the t5's on a timer i just **** them off when I feel like it. I just switched my MH to 6 hours because a few of my acros that are high in the tank are a little light in color.
