Lineatus Fairy Wrasse?

Has anyone ever kept a Lineatus Fairy Wrasse (LFW) in a quarentine tank with no substrate? My Main tank (100gal) has crushed argonite 2-3 inches, but I would like to QT 4-6 weeks in 40 gal tank with PVC pipes for cover. Please let me know if the LFW can survive without sand to bury itself in?

Thanks alot,

Robka

i just did 3 of them for about 1.5 months. they did fine. they are now in the display tank eating like crazy...

What kind of setup did your QT have (bare bottom, structure, size, filtration)? I really appreciate the input:)

Sure, he can survive just fine.

They're usually more prone to wedging themselves in a rock crevice or between the rock and the sandbed than outright burying themselves at night.

If you're concerned, you can always place a small dish or container of sand in the quarantine tank.

That sounds like a good idea, thanks.

Fairy wrasses cacoon themselves at night with mucus, not bury in the sand. He should be fine with no sand but mine messed up his bottom jaw pretty bad trying to kill the other lineatus at the bottom. ( His reflection in the glass)

Alright I pulled the trigger on a Large Super Male LFW and he will be arriving on Tuesday. I can't wait to see this beautiful fish.

Thanks for all your help,

Robka

I agree. Fairy wrasses are not sand wrasses, they cocoon instead.

deworm them. They have been coming in with what seems to be internal parasites lately. Prazi pro is a good source to do it.

According to the manufacturer, you need to use 1 tsp. of Prazipro per 20 gallons of water. Basically, you need to add the correct amount of Prazipro for your size tank and let the treatment go for seven days. After the seven days, many people do a big water change and perform a second seven day treatment (sometimes at 1/2 the dosage). After all of the treatments are completed, you need to do a big water change and use carbon or polyfiber to pull the Prazipro out of the system.

Thanks for the help. It sounds like it can't be used in a dip? I didn't want to treat the whole tank, so I will just have to hope my LFW is parasite free.

Thanks again,

Robka

Post some pics of your new wrasse if you can. I came so close to pulling the trigger for one today from LA with my order of anthias. I would love to know how it is doing for you as later down the road I would like to get one. Good luck on your new fish.

LA is shipping my LFW on Monday so I will be receiving my Super Male on Tuesday. I can't wait. I will try and get some pics as soon as he settles in.

Take care,

Robka
