Lining the stand interior

Greetings Reefers -

My stand is nearing completion, and I turn my attention to the inside of the stand, where a 20H sump will sit. I have already primed and painted, but was thinking that gluing or stapling down some pond liner-type material might be a good idea. That way the wood would be totally shielded from water and salt spray, and I could easily change it out every year or so.

Any thoughts here?

thanks,
jp

That is a good idea,imo.
I used a food grade pvc sheet that I got from work.
Try looking at the vinyl/rubber shower liners material at Lowes or Home Depots.

Good idea MFinn - I think the tricky part will be folding and tacking the vinyl down. Just think if I could get somebody to blast it with the stuff they line pickup beds with.

Vinyl will stay down with most contact glues. I would even think spray glues will work.
You could cut the pieces to exact size and use a silicone caulk in the corners.

I use plastic sheeting from lowes in all my stands.. Here is a shot of my 180.. It can hold 28 gallons of water in the stand without leaking haha

That plastic sheet looks very similar to what I used.
I used double sided scotch tape and staples with caulking in the corners.
Never figured out how much water it will hold. Hope I never find out.
Over the years I wiped out alot of salt creep.

That is a very cool idea; I've been planning on painting the interior of my stand with white gloss enamel paint, I think I'll do this as well.
