Lionfish found 300 feet down in (purposely) sunken ship

I saw that earlier and laughed, they say huge because they saw 1 fish that was only 1" bigger than their normal size and they were still only guessing on that size

They've been reported that deep for years, and I've heard reports of as deep as 800'.

If they really are concerned about the lionfish problem, and want to help, these articles need to focus a little more on how delicious this fish is, and totally safe to eat, instead of just hand-wringing. The only such mention in this article is "Prepared correctly, lionfish are said to make a tasty meal, but one pr*ck from the fish's venomous spine can cause excruciating pain".

In other words, "Maybe it tastes good and maybe it doesn't, but it's really dangerous so you better not try it."

Lionfish and scorpionfish are actually fairly common as food in the South of France.

Just make sure you do not use their fins as toothpicks.
