Lions in reefs - show yours

I just purchased a fuzzy dwarf Lionfish and have her in my 47 gallon reef. I'd love to see pictures of others reef tanks with Lions in them :D

Oh here's mine. She's a Fuzzy about 2 1/2 inches long.

I've been thinking that a dwarf lion would be sweet in my 58, but I'm afraid it would end up eating my clowns :(

Nice new addition.

Slakker - Dwarfs aren't that bad, out of all the Lions, IMO they are the best in reefs.

Well...perhaps someday down the road when my clowns get big enough that I wouldn't have to speculate as to whether they'd fit or not :D

They say 6 inches but others seem to say 4" in captivity - which is about the size of my maroon full grown - hopefully they'll continue to get along. I'd love to hear from anyone who has a fully grown one to see.

Just Lounging.

i have a fuzzy in my 58G and when i first put him in there it ate 2 small damsels, now that hes used to eating frozen krill and misys, he doesnt bother anybody in there , my clowns, dragonet and a bunch of other guys all get along.

Lions are among the smartest reef fish, IMO. While trying to capture a picture of one while night diving in Indonesia, the lion kept drifting on me and eventually tricked me into illuminating a school of cardinalfish with my flashlight. He promptly gobbled them up, gave a Cheshire Cat grin, and swam away.

A top-down of my Volitan begging for a goldfish

Right on, its a Volitan. Before I sold him he was about 12 inches nose to tail. Defenitely would not suggest adding coral and a volitan in such a small tank (55 gal) now that I have done my research.

I would love to have one of those, but I already have a maroon clownfish and a snowflake in a 55 and its in a reef setting. They are beautiful fish wonderful pictures!

true, that is a lot of fish. Not saying my uneducated decisions should be mimiced but when I had the Lion, I had a Maroon, yellow Tang, Snowflake, Picaso trigger, and a Panther Grouper in my 55. Needless to say nitrates were around 50ppm daily.

Well with a fish only tank, a denitrator (nitrate reactor) can accomplish a lot of good. Check it out.
